Three Generations of Electrical Craftsmanship
Jerry picked up the trade the old-fashioned way, alongside his uncle doing material handling in San Jose back in 1985. That’s where the work ethic came from. The attention to detail. The pride in a job done right the first time.
After finishing his apprenticeship in 1990, Jerry spent three decades as a union electrician before coming home to Oahu and opening Sparky and Sons with his sons in 2020. Today, we bring that same hands-on, family-first approach to every home and business we serve across the island.
Thirty-five years on Oahu teaches you the housing stock. Plenty of the homes we work in are single-wall construction from the plantation and mid-century years, where the studs are the wall and there is no cavity to fish a cable through. That changes how a job gets planned: surface raceway in the right places, careful routing behind trim, and honest conversation about what a clean install will look like before anybody drills a hole. A contractor who learned the trade on the mainland tends to quote those houses wrong.
Salt air is the other teacher. Anything within reach of the trades picks up corrosion faster than the manufacturer ever planned for: meter sockets, outdoor receptacles, lug connections, the back of a lanai fan. We use the right hardware for coastal exposure and we look at the things nobody asks us to look at while we are already in the box.

Called Sparky on a Sunday after our breaker tripped during a storm. Tito picked up on the second ring, came out Monday morning, gave us a fair quote, and had our panel upgraded with a new EV charger by Friday. Three generations of electricians in our home and they treated it like their own. Won’t call anyone else.

Straight Answers
How fast can you actually get to me?
Honolulu and Aiea are usually same day or the next morning, since the shop is right there in Kalihi. Kailua and Kaneohe are typically next day because of the Pali and Likelike traffic, though we run the windward side on a 24-hour rotation for anything urgent. No power, a burning smell, a panel that is warm to the touch: call and we come, whatever the clock says.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We carry a Hawaii C-13 electrical contractor license and full general liability coverage, and every electrician on the truck is licensed and employed by us, not a day-labor sub we met that morning. Ask for the license number and the certificate of insurance and we will hand both over before we start. Jerry has been on the tools since 1990 and has no interest in cutting that kind of corner.
Do you take small jobs, or only full panel work?
Both, and we mean it. A single dead outlet in a bedroom, a dimmer that buzzes, a fan that needs hanging: those are real jobs and we book them. The tagline is no job is too small because Jerry has never understood turning down a neighbor over a half-hour fix. Plenty of our panel upgrades started as a one-outlet call where we opened the box and found trouble.
Who pulls the permit, you or me?
We do. New circuits, panel work, service changes, and most remodel wiring need a City and County of Honolulu electrical permit, and we file it, schedule the inspection, and meet the inspector on site. If your job needs the service dropped, we coordinate the HECO disconnect and reconnect so you are not making those calls yourself. You get the signed-off paperwork when we close out.
Which parts of Oahu do you cover?
Honolulu, Aiea, Pearl City, Kailua, and Kaneohe are the regular run, and we work roughly 30 miles out from the shop, which covers most of the island. If you are out past that, call anyway. Most of the time the answer is yes and we simply schedule you for a morning instead of promising same day. If it is genuinely too far, we will tell you straight and point you toward someone good.
