Fix It Right.
Finding the fault is half the job. The other half is fixing it so it stays fixed. Once we know what’s wrong, whether it’s a worn breaker, a loose neutral cooking a terminal, or a dead outlet at the end of a long run, we make the repair the right way and load test it before we leave.
Jerry has been an electrician since 1990, and the work reflects it. We don’t bandage a connection that’s already failing or reuse a breaker that’s been arcing. Worn parts get replaced with proper-rated ones, loose terminals get torqued to spec, and anything that runs hot gets re-checked with the thermal camera after the fix so we know the heat is gone.
Most repairs we finish on the same visit, and you hear the price before any work starts. No job is too small for us to do it properly. The few jobs that need an ordered part get scheduled within 24 hours, and your home stays safe to live in until we’re back.
Same visit is the goal on nearly everything a house throws at us, and it holds because of what rides on the truck. Breakers in the common frames and amperages, receptacles and switches, GFCI devices, weather-rated covers, wire nuts and connectors, box extenders, cover plates, and the odd fittings that turn a two-hour job into a ten-minute one. When we tell you a repair is same-visit, it is because the part is thirty feet away in the van, not because we are guessing. The exceptions are usually panel-specific: an obsolete breaker for a discontinued panel, or a component for a brand that has not been made in years. Those we order, we tell you the day it lands, and we make sure the circuit is safely isolated or the affected part of the house is safe to use in the meantime.
The small-job policy is not marketing language, it is how Jerry set the company up. One dead outlet in the garage. A switch that has to be jiggled. A cover plate that got painted over and cracked. A ceiling box that will not hold the fan you just bought. Larger outfits quietly decline that work because a short call does not pay their overhead, which is why so many people on this island have a list of four little electrical annoyances they have been living with for years. Bring us the list. We would rather knock out five small things in one visit than have you calling five separate times, and pricing that way is fairer to you than paying a trip charge each round.
What counts as an emergency is worth being specific about, because people either panic over nothing or sit on something genuinely dangerous. Call us immediately, and shut the circuit off at the panel first if you can do it safely, for any of these: a burning or fishy plastic smell near an outlet, switch, or panel; scorch marks or discoloration on a device or cover plate; buzzing, sizzling, or crackling from a panel or a wall; a cover plate or plug that is hot to the touch; a breaker that trips again immediately after you reset it; sparks at an outlet beyond the small pop you sometimes get when unplugging something; or water actively getting into an electrical box or panel. Those are all heat or arcing conditions, and heat is how electrical work becomes a fire.
Then there is the tier that needs attention soon but not tonight: a dead outlet or two, a light that flickers in one fixture, a breaker that trips once a week under a heavy load, a switch that feels mushy. Those get scheduled, usually same day for Aiea and Honolulu and next morning for the windward side. And there is a small category that people call an emergency which usually is not, like a tripped GFCI. Push the reset button on the GFCI itself, which may be in the garage or a bathroom rather than the room that lost power, and if it holds you are fine. If it will not reset or trips right back, then something on that circuit is faulting and it is worth a call.
Repairs inside older panels get handled with extra care, and there is a good reason for it. A panel that has been in place since the 1960s or 70s has bus bars that have been through decades of heating and cooling cycles, plus whatever the salt air has done to them. The plastic on the old breakers goes brittle, so a breaker that comes out clean might not go back in without cracking. Panels that were topped off with tandem breakers to squeeze in more circuits have crowded, hot interiors. Some older brands have documented failure histories where the breaker will not reliably trip under fault, and there is no repair for that, only replacement. So when we work an older panel we scan it thermally first, torque connections to spec instead of by feel, and check the whole enclosure rather than only the breaker you called about. If we find the panel itself is the real problem, we will say so plainly, and we will not sell you a replacement you do not need to get there.
What We Repair
Once the fault is confirmed, here’s the work we handle. Most of it gets done the same visit you call us out.
How a Repair Goes
Four steps from confirming the fault to a documented, tested fix. You approve the price before a tool comes out.
Confirm the Fault
We verify exactly what’s failing and where, so the repair targets the cause and not a symptom.
Quote on the Spot
You get the price for the fix right there, in plain numbers. Nothing starts until you say go.
Repair Same Visit
Most fixes are done before we leave. Parts orders get scheduled inside 24 hours.
Load Test & Document
We test the repair under load, recheck it with the thermal camera, and leave you a written summary.
