Ceiling Fan Installation on Oahu

Indoor and outdoor lanai fans installed quietly, balanced, and code-compliant across Aiea, Honolulu, Kailua, and Kaneohe.

Ceiling Fan Installation

Quiet Fans. Hawaii Breezes.

In Hawaii, ceiling fans aren’t a luxury — they’re what makes living without (or with minimal) AC actually pleasant. A good fan, properly installed and balanced, can drop a room’s feels-like temperature by 4–6 degrees and run on pennies a day. A bad install hums, wobbles, or worse, drops out of the ceiling.

Sparky and Sons installs every kind of ceiling fan — standard indoor, big-blade Hunter and Big Ass Fans for great rooms, weather-rated outdoor fans for lanais, and low-profile flush mounts for short ceilings. We replace the fan-rated junction box (most older homes don’t have one), level the canopy, and balance the blades after installation so it runs whisper-quiet.

For outdoor lanai installs — very common in Kailua and Kaneohe — we use UL-listed wet-rated fans with sealed motors and stainless hardware. Salt air kills cheap fans in two seasons. Spec the right one and you’ll get 15+ years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my existing electrical box hold a fan?
Often no — standard light boxes aren’t rated for fan weight or vibration. We swap to a fan-rated box as part of every install.
What size fan do I need?
Roughly: under 75 sq ft — 36″; 75–144 sq ft — 42″ to 48″; 144–225 sq ft — 52″ to 56″; great rooms — 60″+.
Can you install over a sloped ceiling?
Yes — we use a sloped-ceiling adapter and proper down-rod length to keep the fan level and at the right height.
Do outdoor fans really need to be wet-rated?
Yes if exposed to rain. Damp-rated for covered lanais, wet-rated if any rain reaches the fan. Don’t skimp here — non-rated fans rust and fail fast.
