Built for Business Hours.
Commercial electrical runs on a different clock than house work. A retail floor can’t go dark at 2pm on a Saturday. A warehouse crew can’t pick orders under half a lighting grid. And a tenant build-out stalls for weeks when the permit paperwork goes in wrong the first time. Jerry has been wiring buildings since he finished his apprenticeship in 1990, and the lesson that stuck is that the schedule matters almost as much as the wire.
Sparky and Sons handles full-service commercial electrical for Oahu businesses: tenant improvements, panel and switchgear work, lighting retrofits, EV charger arrays for fleets and customer parking, and ongoing maintenance contracts. We schedule disruptive work after hours when needed, and we coordinate with your facilities team, your GC, or your property manager so nobody finds out about a shutdown the morning it happens.
Most of our commercial work is in Honolulu and Aiea (offices, retail, light industrial), with Kailua and Kaneohe smaller in scale (medical and dental suites, restaurants, boutique retail).
Our crew is family. Jerry runs the job, his sons are on the tools, and the person who quotes your building is the person you will see standing in your electrical room. That matters on commercial work more than people expect. When a property manager calls about a breaker that keeps dropping in suite 204, nobody has to go read a file to remember what we did in that panel eight months ago.
We hold a C-13 electrical license and pull permits through the City and County of Honolulu, so your job clears inspection with paperwork an inspector recognizes. Anything touching the meter or the utility service side gets coordinated with HECO on our end. You should not have to learn the utility’s process to get your building rewired.
What’s Included
Every commercial electrical job covers the same scope. Here is exactly what you are getting when you book us.
Getting a Space Ready to Open.
A buildout has one number that matters to the tenant: the day they can open the doors. Electrical usually sits in the middle of that schedule, because the drywall cannot close until the rough-in passes and the ceiling grid cannot go up until the lighting layout is set. We plan our work around the trades on either side of us rather than showing up and hoping the space is ready.
On a typical downtown Honolulu or Kakaako office fit-out that means walking the plans early, flagging anything that will not clear inspection before it gets built, and telling the GC honestly how many days we need. Restaurants in particular tend to grow in scope once the equipment list gets finalized, so we ask for that list up front. Hood controls, walk-in coolers, and cook-line gear all pull dedicated circuits, and finding that out after the walls close costs everyone time.
Retail spaces in centers like Pearlridge come with their own wrinkle. The landlord usually has requirements about which hours you can run noisy work and how the tenant panel is fed and metered. We read the lease work letter before we quote so there are no surprises when the property manager reviews our schedule.
